Homelessness Partnering Strategy
What is it
The Homelessness Partnering Strategy (HPS), funded by the Government of Canada provides matched funding for activities to prevent and reduce homelessness in the designated communities of the Cities of Charlottetown and Summerside.
HPS will fund such activities such as : capital construction including the construction and renovation of facilities; the design and delivery of support services; prevention activities such as eviction preventions; improving the service delivery networks within a community including training front-line staff on homelessness-related activities; community planning; and other activities directly related to the objectives of the HPS.
The John Howard Society of PEI is acting as the Community Entity for the HPS and in this capacity is responsible for the overall administration and the coordination of the HPS program.
This program is also overseen by a Community Advisory Committee consisting of approximately 20 agencies in the Cities of Charlottetown and Summerside who work with the homeless or those who are at risk of being homeless.
The roles of this Community Advisory Committee are providing leadership in matters related to homelessness in the Cities of Charlottetown and Summerside; confirming HPS funding priorities; and reviewing and approving projects for HPS funding.
